National Health and Safety Advisor – Civils & Highways

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Health and Safety professional to join a leading name in the Civil Engineering sector. This is an ideal step for someone ready to take the next stage in their SHEQ career, supporting a variety of highways and infrastructure projects across England.

The Role

Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you’ll play a key role in promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety across multiple construction and highways sites. This is a dynamic role combining remote work with site visits, offering variety and autonomy.

Location & Travel

This is a hybrid role with travel to sites across England. A full UK driving licence is essential. Travel is required but well-balanced and not excessive.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role within construction or civils
• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent qualification
• Strong working knowledge of SHEQ legislation and industry best practices
• A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent communication and organisational skills

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and ongoing review of health and safety procedures on-site
• Conduct site inspections and participate in review meetings
• Assist in identifying and managing SHE risks and opportunities
• Create tailored audit and inspection packs for specific sites

Monitoring & Compliance

• Ensure non-compliance reports are resolved and corrective actions are fully implemented
• Carry out audits of minor works across sites as needed

Continuous Improvement

• Stay up to date with current SHE legislation, trends and best practices
• Maintain visibility across projects, ensuring effective governance and support
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture across the business
